(More customer reviews)I got my used Euro-Pro Shark Cordless Sweeper at an auction a few months ago. The battery looked to be the original one and didn't hold much of a charge. Since the battery cover clearly recommends replacement every 9 - 12 months, I found a battery through Amazon. The replacement battery (V-1911) came quickly. After charging for the recommended time, I put the sweeper to use. Holds the charge through at least four or five lengthy sweeping sessions. I'm very happy and would definitely recommend this product.

But if you appreciate the convenience of a Swiffer-type product and ease of a hand-vacuum, but dislike the cost of Swiffer-type refill papers and the sad limitations of a hand-vac, you might find this a worthwhile quick-fix to the problem of labrador-created dust bunnies and toddler-inspired cracker crumbs.

The Rechargeable Broom Vacuum is just that -- a Dust Buster and broom all in one. Good suction and holds the charge nicely, too. A negative point because unlocking the dirt container from the motor is a bit cumbersome. On the other hand, unlike my hand-vac, I don't actually have to stick my hands into the accumulated 'ick' to empty the container.

Anything to avoid pulling out a vacuum cleaner, this product does exactly what I hoped and expected it would do. It doesn't polish the floors. It doesn't do rugs, curtains or upholstery. And while a broom and dust pan may offer the convenience of operating without an electrical charge, my back doesn't so for that, I give this one a thumb's up.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this machine after seeing an add on TV.I got the machine home, and was actually excited about vacuuming.The UV light on the vacuum seemed to do a good job at destroying all the dust mites in my carpet.I have to say it looks very cheap, and doesn't look very durable.Within a month and half of receiving this machine, I began to have problems with UV light.It would turn on sometimes, and sometimes it would not come on at all.Finally it stopped working all together.

I was able to find a local repair shop who is a warranty station for Halo vacuums.I dropped it off over 3 weeks ago, and the owner of the shop keeps telling me he is waiting on the part.This is very frustrating as I know have to go back to my ultra-heavy 15 year old Kirby which I kept only for the basement.

My experience with this Halo has been the vacuum is great when it is working, but the service after the sale has left a lot to be desired.

I once had an issue where the brush got kinda jammed and wasn't rolling, but I easily unjammed it (I think it was just full of hair), and it's been fine ever since.

(More customer reviews)If your living environment is in the country with exposure to dirt, mud, animal hair & normal household dirt or dust, this vacuum is not for you!This machine is poorly designed & does not perform as advertised.Suction is so great it pulls dirt, debris & hair up through the collar cone filter & directly into the sealed HEPA chamber.Once the chamber plugs full of debris, the vacuum looses all suction & ability to clean.There are only two options for cleaning the chamber, once obstructed - take it to an authorized shop or dismantel the machine yourself.No one wants a vacuum that must be 'repaired' after minimal use, or one that must be repaired after every use.It clogged up before I could complete two rooms & although the initial obstruction was cleared, the unit now plugs up before finishing one room.Hoover appears to have no desire to fix the design flaw or make it right with anyone who foolishly spent money buying this product - Hoover will not accept a return, or provide an exchange to another vacuum in their product line.A word of advice I received from the authorized service shop that repaired (cleaned) the vacuum - this type of problem seems common with Hoover bagless models, especially the new windtunnel 2; don't buy anything but a bagged Hoover product.

My Office is located in a building which has also houses a catering operation andis non-smoking. Most of the time we don't mind the cooking smells but , concentratedindustrial strength garlic is hard to take at 7 am sometimes! Fresh Wave neutalizes it immediately leaving just the faintest odor of cinnamon. Other staff are amazed when they enter and ask " Why is your office the only one that doesn't smell?".Also in the winter people go just barely outside the door to smoke & it travels up the stairwells like a chimmney. I hate the smell and stand in the doorway& squirt until they remember they are supposed to go out AND be twenty feet away from the door! At home , a squirt or two in the area of the litter box and you would never know we have two inside cats! I hate perfumey, cloying scentoilsand sprays, they usually result in making me sneeze for 10 minutes or giving me a pounding headache. I have never experienced that using any of the Fresh Waveproducts and I have used them all. I heartly reccommend them .

THANE H20 MOP STEAM CLEANER Review

(More customer reviews)While nothing will ever really replace the Cinderella-style of hands and knees scrubbing, this mop certainly is better than pulling out the regular mop and bucket of luke warm brown water.
It is sturdy enough and easy to assemble. its easy to use and does a great job of cleaning without chemicals. Sticky juice spills in the kitchen come up quickly and easily and the sanitizing feature is great for the area just in front of the bathroom toilet where men can never seem to avoid. lol.
The cord was plenty long enough for the rooms in my house, since I dont live in a mansion with huge rooms. And I was able to clean my kithen ceramic tile in less time than it took my husband to go outside and smoke a leisurly cigarette. The floor dried much faster than with regular mopping but I could see spots of dampness here and there when I was done so I am not sure how safe i would feel using it on hardwood floors.
The cons: it only comes with 2 reusable pads. So after the kitchen and bathroom I had to stop and wait for the wash before I could do the hall bath and the downstairs bath. Plus I felt I could redo the kitchen a 2nd time since the pad was so filthy the first time around. So you really do need to buy more pads.
Also, it does NOT do grout. If you have a spill in the grout lines the best you can do is 'sanitize' the spot (holding the mop there for 8 seconds) to loosen the dirt and then manually wiping clean with a rag or paper towel.
Finally, while the swivel head is easy to manever, it really does not get into corners all that well. And much like regular mopping, you have to sweep well or vacuum first or elseyou will just be pushing around crumbs or hair which will collect along baseboards and corners.
Since this is a great novelty mop, and since I love that I dont have to buy cleaners, I would definetely recommend this mop for people who like to keep their floors clean, and are sick of the mop and bucket style of cleaning. My floors are cleaner and I look forward to using it again when those stupid pads go through the wash again. lol.

I spent the day yesterday shampooing and vacuuming my 1600 SF house.Today I decided I needed to replace my previous vac, because I am sick of taking the screwdriver out and taking it apart to remove the clogs.So I went out shopping and came home with this unit.
I have re-done my whole house and I was shocked at how much this thing picked up.It almost made me blush, because I thought my house was clean!!It proved me wrong!I have 2 chihuahuas and 2 love birds to clean up after (Oh yeah, and a husband!)
I love this vac, and for half the price of the Dyson that I have been wanting FOREVER, I say get this and go get yourself something really nice with the extra money that is left.

(More customer reviews)Just purchased the DC 17 allergy and asthma today. Have done a lot of research over the last week and read many reviews. I really wanted a good vacuum I can depend on; I have 6 kids and vacuum daily! Best I can tell each model has the same amount of suction, they just have different options in color, filter placement/type and attachments. I was set on the DC14 model but this was on sale for a great price and had a few more attachments I felt I would really use. So far I am pleased. It appears to pick up as expected, I'm pretty impressed with the amount of junk in the canister and my carpets feel cleaner. This is very easy to maneuver; I see no need for the more expensive ball model, unless you will use all the fancy attachments. All the full size Dyson's felt heavy to me in the store, so I was concerned with getting it up and down the stairs, but in comparison to Hoover etc. they all seem to be about the same weight and hey we could all use a good workout. I find no issues with pushing it around, it moves with great ease and transitions surfaces flawlessly. Turning the beater off to move from carpet to solid floors is a breeze and the feature works wonderfully, just a touch of an easy to reach button.The attachments fit on firmly and do not fall off. The wand will take some getting use to as it is solid for about 18+" and I am use to the hose being flexible at the base. I don't have to bend as much using it though so my back is happy! The hose is very easy to remove for use, just cannot use it for quick pick-ups until you unwind the entire plug, so one minor downfall. It states there is a 5 year warranty, I did not read what all that covers, I will just be relieved to have a vacuum last more than a year with the beating I give them. It is important as with ALL canister vacuums that you tap or wipe out the excess dust from the chamber weekly. I have had many canister vacuums and learned early on to do this often to keep the fine dust from building up or you will loose suction.The filter is easy to remove and clean by running under tap water, so will save on replacement filters in the future! Overall I am happy; we will see how I feel at the 6 mo. And 1 yr. mark. But no regrets today. The only negative I can agree with that I have seen over the last week is the not being able to remove the wand without unwinding the entire cord.

(More customer reviews)For starters consumer reports completely blew this review because they did not understand the European specs.It has an S-Class Filter that is the European equivalent to a US HEPA filter.So that was consumer reports first mistake second the pile adjustment.They listed it as not having one.It is fully automatic and mechanically senses and adjust to the proper height and pile every time.It is the best adjustment I have seen yet.The brush head is easily the best design out of all.It can be easily removed to cut hair of in less than a Minute.The Belt has a lifetime warranty to boot!It is one of the lightest uprights you will use period in addition to one of the quiets unlike an oreck which is the loudest!!These vacuum cleaners will last for years and are so simple to service.I have had my Sebo for 6 years and have pets.It does far better than the Dyson it replaced that broke belts and weight a ton.The Dyson was built far weaker...so much plastic and fittings.The seal of the systems was terrible.Is this worth the price?Considering in the 5 years prior to this unit I went thru 3 vacuum, GE, Dirt Devil and a Dyson all equaling the cost of this unit.You can find it much cheaper than here...I got mine for $575.When I bought it the guy had me try everyone he had at the store the Radiance, Miele, Dyson, and said this should be the last one you ever buy, I didnt believe it but I do now.They wheeled and deal on these so look around.It is the best one I have used yet!If I had one negative it would be the hose wand could and should be longer...oh and if you are really picky the brush head cant be switched off but I am yet to run into a problem for this is used on carpet only...which you will never shut off the brush head.

One side note.I have recently noticed these are used in all Sheraton and Hilton hotels I have stayed at.Next time you are at one that should tell you enough right there.They are more than built to take a beating!!

(More customer reviews)a powerful vacuum (1000w) that's fairly quiet and does a fine job on both hardwood floors and rugs. it's great around the apartment with its 26 ft long cord.
the miele s143 is solidly constructed without being overly weighty and is nicely balanced. the head pivots slightly side to side and is actually helpful vacuuming around things like a furniture leg. the head loses full contact somewhat when you bring the vacuum down to the level of the floor in the rug mode -- trying (ummph) to get deep under the sofa or bed but otherwise but generally does a fine job.
the heart of the s143 can be used with a smaller head/crevice attachment and without the long handle, much like a really powerful hand vac. a very useful feature for cleaning furniture.
there is an option to upgrade to a hepa filter (although the included carbon filter bag is good enough for me) and i believe an option to upgrade to a motorized head but i suspect if that's a serious consideration, the s147 is probably the way to go.
off tangent: i'm not sure why the description lists Ivory as the color but the s143, as far as i know, only comes in the mint green shown in the picture.
all in all, a finely built product that's nicely met the needs of this apartment dweller... though a tad on the pricey side.

(More customer reviews)Just got this, and put it to work in my kitchen.It got to work roaming around, suctioning up the dog hair.When I came back at the end of the day and checked it, it had done a very admirable job of cleaning, all at about 1/3 to 1/4 the price of the Roomba.Will I still need to sweep?Absolutely.It can't get right up next to walls or in corners.But from what I read, people that own the Roomba still have to sweep, too.And this was alot less and there don't appear to be any expendable items (dust filter, swiffer cloth), that you can't obtain locally and cheaply by being a bit ingenious and handy with a pair of scissors.

One point - I don't think it will do well on carpets.No beater brush, and the suction isn't that strong.The test will be how long does it last.But so far for the money, I am pleased!It helps keep things clean between your own cleanings.

Update, after one month:This little guy is still doing a great job.I've seen it other places on Amazon for less than what I paid. If you can get it for less than $50, then you should definitly go for it.However, it really is only for hard wood or tile floors.

Update Feb 16 2009 - A couple of months ago, the little guy stopped taking a charge.I am debating whether or not to try and by replacement batteries (not cheap) to see if that will fix the problem, or just chucking it all together.I hate to do that, but I also hate throwing money at a problem not knowing if it will fix it or not.

(More customer reviews)I definitely noticed the difference each time I added this treatment, so much so that I'm adding this review here even though I bought this stuff at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Earlier this year I acquired a mid-century modern Rya rug, a natural wool shag that has spent most of its life in storage and thus had taken on a distinct musty smell. This is the only carpet on otherwise hardwood floors so it's clear where the odor was coming from. When I had a pregnant friend over and she politely but firmly insisted I keep the window open on a cool day I knew I had to do something about the slightly vomity stale smell, which I would notice upon entering the place and then forget about and less sensitive noses would not apparently pick up on (or were attached to mouths too polite to say). I started with the crystals and opening the window each day, which didn't do much.

The first shake treatment not only reduced the mustiness 40%, the rug felt much nicer and fuller after treatment. The container was enough for three or four treatments (it's a big area rug - 8 x 12) and before this last treatment I had it down to about 10% of the previous odor - I believe I have just delivered the knockout punch.

Bonus - my kids are super picky about scents (they hate them) and did not complain even while I was doing the treatment. It's a nice fresh scent, natural.

So here is a rug that a reputable chem dry outfit had said they couldn't help restore (they gave it a cursory cleaning and left without charging me) that is now nearly as good as new, and certainly as good as it gets for a rug from the 1960's.

Although, I never used it before, I tried it, and was surprised that the blue chemical w/hot water turned into a dark brown/black ish water color.I didnt know how dirty and filthy my living room, and master bedroom carpet was. I decided to carpet clean every 6 months although moving the furniture was so hard and tiredsome, lol.I bought a Bissell carpet cleaning machine that came with Bissell carpet shampoo and floor care cleaning samples.Cleaning is one thing but I am into disinfecting, and reducing allergens as much as possible especially when one has children and/or pets, and very importantly your children were born with ashmatic symptoms. I have to clean, wash, dust, disinfect, detail as much as possible inside my home more than an average little clean daily or weekly. After using this product, I have now become more aware than regularly daily light cleaning. I also bought more products that has helped reduce dust, and allergens such as Sharper Image Quadra, Allergy Mattress Covers, filters for ceiling fan blades, and changing filters for vacuums, etc. Everyone should try to make your home as healthy as possible similiar to the hospital atmosphere, lol.I recommend this product to be a 4-5 star product. Now, I have to buy some more, and yes it is worth the price to me. I hope you like this product as much as I do.

(More customer reviews)The Swivel Sweeper G2 works extremely well on hard floors. It's light weight and swivel to get around tight crevices. It also does a fairly decent cleaning job right up against the wall on hard floors and even carpets. Although for carpet cleaning in the central area of the room, you're better off using a conventional vacuum cleaner for that. The reason for this, that this sweeper is not a vacuum but a power brush system that would only get the surface dust off the carpet leaving the ground in dust.

We bought this sweeper to use on hard floors prior to washing them. For that function it does extremely well, keeping the mop relatively lint free. For use on carpeting, you have to be careful that you don't cause the sweeper to flip and spilling the contents back onto the carpet. Since this kind of sweeper with no suction doesn't clean ground in dirt well on carpeting, I would not recommend it for this purpose.

Previously, we bought the original Swivel Sweeper and now the Swivel Sweeper G2. When comparing the two, they both clean equally well. The Swivel Sweeper G2 is a little bit more convenient to use because of the refinement such as easier emptying as well as the articulating handle when you need to go underneath furniture.

(More customer reviews)I write this review only by chance, because my real reason for visiting Amazon.com today is to replace this very product.
I have always trusted Consumer Reports, finding their reviews pretty much on the money, but despite their glowing report on this product, (quoted here by another reviewer) reality has proved far less luminous.
I have struggled with this vac for over a year now, and honestly, I wish I had never bought it!If it hadn't cost so darn much, I'd have tossed it out long ago.
On the positive side, this machine has plenty of suction - but unless you have miles of unobstructed wall-to-wall carpet and a single level home, it simply sucks!The self-propelled feature is quite helpful: more on that farther down.
The vac is too bulky to fit under/between most of my furniture. Even if the head gets under, the body does not lay flat enough to follow. I spend WAY too much time on my hands and knees struggling with the poorly placed hose, extensions and powered brush attachment to get under normal items like chairs. In addition, its wimpy "powered" brush (which spins only by suction with no motor of its own) only picks up light surface dirt anyway. Push down harder and it just stops turning. BAH!
As another reviewer mentioned, beware when using the tools on this vac. Mine also falls over all the time (timber!) and because it weighs a freaking ton, beware of falling over yourself if you have to carry it upstairs! GADS! And forget cleaning those stairs on the way up, too. I had to purchase another small, hand-held vac for that.
Other complaints: The adjusters for bare floor/carpet are very hard to move and break easily. It does not clean close to walls at all (get out that hose again!). The bags are not all that easy to change, and quite pricey. It eats belts. And why, oh WHY, does the cord (which you have to wind up yourself - no cord reel) come out on the bottom?
Did I mention it's HEAVY?? If it weren't self-propelled, it would be immobile. The vac cannot be rolled at all when turned off, making storage difficult.
In summary, unless your home resembles a hotel lobby - pass this one up.

Last Friday Tazz (our male cat) was attacked in our yard by a loose dog, needless to say I rushed him to the hospital Friday afternoon and upon the initial examination, the vet did not find any external damage. The next day I gave Tazz a bath because he was covered in urine from the attack and that is when I noticed a lump on his right rear hip. I took him to another emergency hospital at which they did an ultra sound of his hip and found he has a hematoma / fluid in his hip.

The vet gave me some anti-inflammatory liquid to give him but he is still in pain and you can see it when he tries to jump or climb. In addition, his whole demeanor has changed to being scared of the slightest noise or movement. He hides frequently and does not talk / meow anymore.

My Veterinarian recommended Feliaway Spray, which the Veterinarian said, would help with his anxiety in addition to helping him heal from the emotional trauma of the attack. I received the Feliaway today in the mail and after spraying it on a couple of places where Tazz frequents, I must say his attitude is very much improved. I would HIGHLY recommend this product even though it is a bit pricey it just takes a WEE BIT for it to have an effect. Call it aromatherapy for cats, whatever the case if can help a cat after a dog attack then I say it's a product that deserves high marks.

(More customer reviews)I've been using the SmartVac for over a month now.It is a great vacuum for the price.Some of the positives about it are: terrific vacuuming suction, clean air smell while vacumming, easy attachment system, and soft wheels for hardwood floors.I noticed that after I vacuumed my 15 year old carpets that I had to use force to close the doors since the nap had been raised so high.The rugs look noticeably cleaner and have a raised, fresh look.Negatives to the vacuum are the heavy weight, and the cheap plastic pedal that lowers the handle takes getting used to.
To address some of the comments made by others.The attachments all fit very snugly in their holders.You need to use enough force to "snap" them into place.I, too, thought the upholstery tool was loose until I realized that you need to use quite a bit of force to snap it into place.Once snapped, it won't go anywhere until you snap it out.For vacumming hardwood floors, you need to make sure that the vacuum is lowered to its lowest position and that the brushes are turned off. I also bought a small turbo head, a deluxe floor brush and a 10 foot extra hose.They work great together for cleaning under beds and for the car and furniture.
In summary, I think this is a great vacuum.For an extra $30 or so you can get some attachments that really make it work wonders.I now can leave it at the bottom of the stairs, while using the 20 feet of hose to clean all of the stairs and the wall, if I'm inclined!The suction is still very strong even with the extra hose.Hope this is helpful.

Miele S2120 Delphi Canister Vacuum - Lotus White Review

(More customer reviews)First of all let me state that this is my first Miele vacuum.I've not laid hands on a Sebo, Riccar, or Miele (except briefly in a store) before receiving the Miele Delphi.In the past I bought what was cheap and hoped for the best.Lately I've changed that philosophy and research everything diligently.Consider in my review that I don't have experience with premium vacuums prior to this one (and even though it's at the bottom end of the price range I think $500 is premium for a vacuum cleaner).

This vacuum replaces a Kenmore upright that lasted 10 years.We were never really satisfied with it though.It's performance was mediocre and it always had belt problems.The beater was driven from the main motor by means of a cheap idler pulley arrangement (so that it could be disengaged for bare floors) which was a weak point.Like many uprights it was heavy and fell over easily when using attachments.Our house is 50/50 bare floors and low carpets.It did poorly on bare floors, particularly the tile in our bathrooms.

We use a vacuum to clean all the floors, upholstery, for dusting, and cleaning out the cars.

After a lot of research I decided on these priorities:

*Sealed system.Why clean if the dust is shooting out all over everything as you go?
*True power brush.Even though we have low carpets it was pretty clear that the combo tool would not cut it.Nor was I impressed with the turbo brush at the store.It's very convenient to flip a switch and go from carpet to bare floors.I realize that there are specific brushes for bare floors, and we may get one eventually, but they seem very expensive for what you get.
*Quality construction.Means a lot for me and I'm willing to pay for it.I'm practically an expert appliance repairman from working on all the junk appliances we bought for our new house 10 years ago.First world construction AND assembly is not everything, but it goes a long ways.
*HEPA was not a necessity.We don't have dust allergies.The ability to upgrade is a nice plus, but for now I just don't think we need it.

So why did I choose the Delphi?

If you are confused about Miele's model selection join the club.To sum the it up (canisters only):

S2 series, larger bags, powered and non-powered hose models tools mount on base of hose.
S4 series, smaller bags, non-powered hose models only, tools mount of base of hose.
S5 series, larger bags (same as S2), premium line, powered and non-powered hose models, tools mount inside.

Differences within the lines largely involve attachment packages and the type of controls on the vacuum itself.

Models with a non-powered hose cannot use power accessories.You cannot add a powered hose later.There are no provisions to power it.You are stuck with the turbo (air powered) brush heads only.As I said earlier I was not satisfied with the performance of those.All the new models with powered hoses have direct connect.That means when you connect the attachment the power plug is attached as well.There are no extra wires to connect.Some older models required extra wires which I would find inconvenient if you just wanted to change over the dusting brush for a quick second.

So on to the Miele Delphi:

The item arrived well packaged with clear documentation and only reasonable assembly required (~3 minutes, no tools).There are separate manuals for the power head and vacuum.

The included power head is the SEB 217-3.It is about 10 1/2" wide with no light bar.It is a couple inches narrower than the power head on most vacuums.Miele has a larger one available that would work on this vacuum for around $250.00 (half the cost of the entire thing).Consider that the wider the power head the more your suction is dispersed.As the suction on the Miele is excellent I think it could certainly power a wider head just fine, but unless you have a very large home I think it would be unnecessary.Probably more important to that decision is the type of carpet.The 217-3 is designed for lower nap carpets.It has no height adjustment.I suspect it would be very hard to push on higher carpets.On high suction it can get tough to push on medium to low carpets, so consider that if you have deep carpeting.It does well on bare floors and I run it at the highest setting for this.You can actually see the dust being pulled under from a couple inches out front of the head.

The head has a swiveling attachment and as such it is very maneuverable.It also lays nearly flat, but not completely so, for getting under things.The head itself is very low profile so I can get under things I couldn't before.The wand appears of very high quality stainless and the plastic latches for extension and connection appear of similar high quality and function.

The so called "deluxe" handle has a single switch for the power head which is a necessary convenience.I would not consider one without this.A second switch to power the vacuum on and off would have been a nice addition, but it's not a necessity.

They claim the power hose is crush proof and strong enough to support the weight of the vacuum plus some but I have no reason to test it.The hose is free to swivel 360 degrees at the handle end but not at the vacuum end due to the connection for the power head.It doesn't swivel all that well and it may take me a little getting used to it, but like I said I've never used a canister.As I mentioned there is a separate plug on the base of the hose for the power head.The S5 models have a plug integral with the hose.You have to unplug it to open the bag chamber but that's not a big deal.

The vacuum itself has very strong suction.It's adjustable of course by means of a knob on the top of the body.I noticed some dust on the bottom of the vacuum so decided to vacuum it off and pulled the label right off the base as well!It is fairly quiet, but noticeably louder with the small attachments due to drawing the amount of air it is through such a small opening.The cord reel works well.It rides on 3 independent caster wheels and maneuvers very well.The small attachments mount to a bracket on the base of the hose.They stay there well enough but the bracket nor the attachments are awe inspiring.Then again, what do you expect.

The bag compartment door opens by a latch at the front of the vacuum body.The cover seems pretty flimsy when open so be careful with it in that position.It looks to be held in the open position only by plastic detents in the hinge.Plastic hinges are also used on the motor filter door, but considering that this only needs changing with every 4th or 5th bag shouldn't be subject to a lot of wear.The bag compartment holds a factory installed g/n bag with a hinged closure to prevent dust leakage.By the time you open the compartment it is already closed.Removal and replacement couldn't be easier.For all the talk of a sealed system this Miele relies on a tapered plastic to plastic joint to achieve it.I expected to see a rubber gasket of some type around the bag chamber but it's not to be found on the Delphi.I think the s5 models have one and this may be what is meant by their double seal.I don't have any way to test it, but it certainly seems air tight.I suppose the motor's suction makes it even tighter when it's running.

As I alluded to earlier, the Delphi comes with a thin, non HEPA, air filter.You can buy one any time you want to put in, but at $53.00 I wouldn't get it unless you really need it.The thin "super clean" air filters come included in each box of bags.I assume if you don't have a model that originally came with this thin filter you will need to locate a carrier to hold it as it is much thinner than the HEPA filter.Kudo's to Miele for making this an option.Ongoing operational costs are something to consider with any appliance.

In summary I'm pleased with the S2120 Delphi.It has exactly the features I was looking for and I was willing to pay the higher price over something like an Electrolux Oxygen 3 in consideration of Miele's excellent reputation.At it's heart you get the same motor and suction as the higher priced models.My main concern is the durability of the plastic door, in particular it's hinges.If they break your vacuum is useless.Perhaps my fear is unwarranted. My four star rating is what I consider excellent for a new product.For me five stars would need to include a consideration of reliability.It's always a gamble, but I think with a Miele a pretty safe bet.

The light is red when turned on but there is no sound, motion in the water or any indication that something is happening. I tried to remove fresh stains off clothing without success. I tried to clean a diamond ring and the inside of the diamond still looked dirty after more than the recommended time and combination soap/water stated. I bought this to avoid getting a big jewelry cleaner and for the fact that it is supposed to remove stains but it doesn't live up to the hype. Invest in something a bit more cumbersome that actually does what it's supposed to do.

(More customer reviews)I just love this vacuum.My cleaning woman loves it, too.At the beginning I thought I made a mistake because it takes some reading to understand how it works.However, if one takes the time, this machine it's incredible.the first thing I noticed was the clean odor when vacuuming.I don't have to put any kind of deodorant or pellets in the bag.Secondly, as you vacuum longer with it, the amount of soil in the container dimishes and now it takes about an hour of vacuuming before we have to change the water.We have tested it on rugs, upholstery and windows, and once you get to know how it works, it's really good.I am very happy with my ROTHO Twin TT and as much as I love my Miele, this one has become the queen, in my house.

(More customer reviews)I hate cleaning house, or in my case, apartment! There are so many wonderful, worthwhile things I could be doing with my time rather than dusting, sweeping and mopping. Sleeping-in on weekends is high on that list of activities. However, I cannot abide living in filth. Sigh. So, clean I must. And then a dear friend of mine, a compulsive cleaner, turned me on to Swiffer products. After receiving a firsthand demonstration from my enthusiastic pal, I purchased the "Swiffer Duster with Extendable Handle."

Wake up fellow humans!! The Swiffer Duster takes the yuck, or most of it, out of cleaning...well, at least the dusting part!! I have two cats, so eliminating their hair more easily is a major plus! This amazing little dusting apparatus, similar in design to an old-fashioned feather duster, cuts down on dust, invisible particles and pet hairs, in no time flat!

This starter package comes with two sturdy plastic handles which extend to 3 feet in length. Two disposable Swiffer dusters are included, so I would recommend buying a package of refills along with this purchase, since once you use a duster you throw it out along with whatever it picks up. You simply insert the duster onto the handle, shake to fluff, and dust. Dry cloths are extra-thick with unique, V-shaped ridges that pick up more dirt, etc., than traditional methods of cleaning. The Swiffer fibers create an electrostatic charge, that when wiped across a surface, attracts dust/dirt, hair, and other gunk. Then the trademark "Lift and Lock" pockets hold the dirt to stop it from returning to your clean floor or surface

I find Swiffer Dusters are particularly good for getting into hard-to-reach places, like under and behind the computer monitor, keyboard, TV screen, sound system equipment - they're fabulous for cleaning ceiling fans, around knickknacks, and my personal nemesis - loaded bookshelves!! The pivoting head can be adjusted and locked into four different positions to clean angled surfaces, such as above mentioned ceiling fans, venetian blinds, cabinet corners, baseboards and tight spaces.

Some folks complain that the refills are expensive and I agree, to some extent. Although for me, they're worth every single penny because after I dust, both dust and duster go directly into the trash and out my door - Do Not Pass Go; Do Not Collect $200! Weigh your priorities. I'd rather brown bag it to work and cut my cleaning time in half. Check it out. You won't hear me cheering often about anything that has to do with cleaning.

I feel that cleaning a cat box several times a day is a real pain, but then so is cleaning it up off the basement rug every day if I dont clean the box soon enough for "his highness"!This thing is GREAT!Ok, I've only had it for 5 days now, and it specifically says on the box that for larger cats or multiple cats, the cartrige will NOT last 30 days--the container is full (like I said, he poops A LOT) BUT!! I really dont mind taking the scoop and scooping out the container once a week--I have to do this because replacement cartriges are $15 or so (that's the really bad part) I still have to see if it will take all his urine for 30 days, but in the mean time: The smell is gone, he doesnt track litter everywhere (I used clumping before and he left a real mess--along with the smell) just a few of the crystals get on the floor, I dont have to clean the box daily (as well as the basement carpet), and it works.One thing to note, I did not realize how BIG the thing is, and I also didnt think about plugging it in--so you may have to revise where you put it.Also, it's not perfect--some of the poop got behind the rake, and got stuck, but whoopie, no big deal to take a piece of toilet paper, and pull it off. I may look into reusing cartriges (waxed cardboard boxes with scoop free crystals dumped into it) and adding crystals from a bottle, but that may not be possible, because waxed cardboard can only take so much wetness--but that may be an option. I think a bottle of the stuff is around $15 too, but you may get 2 or 3 uses out of it, rather than just the one.

**update**1 1/2 months--I still love it. It lasts about 14 days, with a once per week clean out of the poop trap. The crystals never smells like urine, but there is a smell after that amount of time (big cat).cant use a litter liner as the rake can get stuck--or kitty's nails, so I'm still working on a way to refill more cheaply--but no more "accidents" on the carpet.

(More customer reviews)I just bought this a week ago and so far, for what I use it for, it's beenreally good. I have mostly wall to wall carpet here and this unit has done a great job of cleaning it. My last vac was a Kenmore and for some reason did not do a good job on my carpet. Maybe that was a poor model or something, or it may have been broken and needed to be serviced. I'm not bashing Kenmore.

When I first got this one, I got a full container of dust/dirt each time I vacuumed. It has gotten my carpets MUCH cleaner. It seems well built and powerful, like it will last quite a while. It's a big improvement over the last vacuum I had. So far I'm quite pleased with it. If you have a lot of wall to wall carpet, I'd say this would make a good unit for you.

Heres the thing, you have to exert alot of manual labor, it is what it says.... Rake. You are literally rakingyour carpet and it takes some energy out of you!! I have done it, and i do it all the time. I LOVE this product, not love like my favorite purse, but love like... Like, a good tool that's a necessity around the house.

I live in a apartment with crappy apartment carpet. In all the walkways and where the dog sleeps i sprinkle Arm & Hammer baking soda rake it into the carpets, then 30 min or so later (usually the next day) I vacuum it up. My carpets stay lighter and fluffier until they need it again. I does and excellent job at pulling out years worth of dirt that had never been gotten by my vacuum alone.

I give it 5 stars and a must have tool around the house!!

A lot of dirt falls out from the hepa filter when removing the dirt box or collects behind the the dirt box if you don't pay very close attention to aligning it just right. I really liked how much dirt this thing pulls out of the carpet but it's heavy and dirt just falls out, a lot of dirt, when emptying the dirt box. I'm returning and not getting another after reading the other reviews in here that sound just like my experience.

(More customer reviews)I bought my Kirby about 4 years ago, and it was a LOT of money.The salesman, who was in my house for 4+ hours and would not leave, convinced me that it was superior.It IS a decent vacuum, but I actually find myself using it less than I used my previous vacuum because it is such a pain to use.It is heavy and cumbersome and if you want to use the hose to edge clean, vacuum upholstery, or to clean in tight spots, you have to take the entire head off and attach a hose before you can do that.It is not quick, or convenient. Plus there is the inconvenience having to buy and deal with vacuum bags again.The Kirby salesman convinced me to give him my old vacuum and my very nice Bissell carpet shampooer as a "trade in" (and I STILL paid over $2100 for the KIrby!) and I got the Sentria and the carpet shampooer system. I went to use my carpet shampooer for the first time today and found that the belt was damaged as it had been used before, not the brand new system that I was told I was paying for. So it will go back in the closet for 4 more years and I will go rent an inferior machine from the supermarket.I feel very ripped off.I do not consider myself gullible, but I surely did fall for a line with this vacuum!

My carpets have never looked worse!Consumers would be better served buying whatever the latest technology has to offer (I hear Dyson is awesome) than spending way too much money for an inconvenient, heavy Kirby.

(More customer reviews)I have the Kenmore CANISTER progressive which I absolulely love, even though the power head has electrical issues.So, me being a VACUUM nut and owning about 5 at a time for each section of the house, thought I would give the upright of the same a try.

The intelli-clean works well, it's not that noisy, however....it doesn't leave lines in the rug (suction is okay, but not as good as my canister), and unlike my canister vacuum, I cannot easily run over the throw rugs in the tile areas (baths, entrances etc).I can lift the canister vac head at the end of the rug after running over it without it catching, but the upright does not have a "locking" position on the handle to make that lift.It eithers locks upright or is free moving when out of the upright position.That's a huge problem (for me anyway).I've tried lowering the suction, slowing the brush speed, etc, but NOPE - not good enough.

Also, the handi-mate (powered nozzle) is NOT POWERED by the motor, but powered by suction which we all know does not work when you put pressure on the brushes. When I clean, I put pressure - I want it CLEAN.

It has alot of great features, but after trying it for 5 minutes, I realized it's not worth the $300 I paid and it's going back in the morning!

In our one story home we used a Kenmore brand upright which we still have and after 8 years of use it still works very well. Our dilemma is with the two story house and stairway. We went from a 2,400 sqft home to a 4,700 sqft home. Lugging the good old Kenmore up and down the stairs and covering all the nooks and crannies, including the stairway, is quite a workout. My wife and daughter rely on me to move the vac when it's time to clean.
So I sought out reviews on a backback vac, after all that's what the commercial cleaners use right. Consumer Reports only covers canisters and uprights and all other reviews covered commercial applications, so not a lot of homeowner info to go by. So what do you do? Make the plunge and hope it works.
Well after two cleanings we are VERY impressed! This think sucks and we can vacuum the house in half the time it takes with our upright.Besides carpet we have wood and tile floors plus a pet that, unfortunately, sheds. We can vacuum quicker than using a broom and dustpan. This thing is great and as quite (by vacuum standards) as our Kenmore. We have stressed wood floors, ceramic and natural stone tiled floors along with looped carpeting. I suggest getting the optional wood floor 14" attachment and the floor duster (has a cloth mitt) for wood shutters or blinds... yes it cleans them as well.
A little cumbersome at first getting this to fit on your back but once you're set tell people to get out of your way... you will be done in no time! By the way most of our neighbors use cleaning services. We're cheap and prefer to do it ourselves at our convenience.That's how we justified the cost.

I have a Miele vacuum and no way does it compare to the miele.It is aso bulky and complicated.The carpet cleaner is terrible.
The suction on the vacuum as well as the carpet cleaner is very poor.
All it does is spray the water well.The suction is so poor it does not pick up the dirt and water.Then the hose broke. This broke on the second attempt to use it.
At this point it has set here a year and I just want to send it back fr it takes up space.

(More customer reviews)I've had my Miele vac for several years now and am almost completely satisfied with it. Great power -- it really DOES clean very effectively, is much quieter than most vacuums, has great accessories, a very powerful powerhead for carpet cleaning, and it's easy to use. To top it all off, the Miele is downright pretty!

The filters are great, it's much cleaner internally than most vacs, and the vacuum cleaner bags can be removed without spewing dust all around. Absolutely the only drawbacks I find with this cleaner are its lack of a power switch on the metal wand and awkward upright storage. If you buy the next level up, I think even those flaws are absent, but I didn't have the money to buy the more expensive model at the time. Other than that, I would buy it again tomorrow. It's a terrific cleaner and a whole lot better than any other cleaner I've ever owned (that would be about ten different cleaners over the years). Well worth the money.

The mop comes with 2 mop pads, but to get the most of the convenience of a steam mop, you need more pads. Depending upon the size of your home and the amount of traffic it gets - 6-8 pads is a good idea. Then, when the pad gets dirty, you just swap them out and keep mopping. When you're all done, throw all the pads in the wash and you're ready for next time.

These are nice in that they have an elastic drawstring-type fitting, instead of the velcro type on other steam mop pads. They are well made and of high-quality microfiber. The fabric has ridges that helps scrub the floor and also catches pet hair, a very nice feature in my opinion.

iRobot 500 Series Roomba Vacuum-Cleaning Robot with On-Board Scheduling Review

(More customer reviews)First let me say that I agree with people who say that the robot does a competent job of cleaning.You should SEE the dust bin after vacuuming!I am also in awe etc etc, but I'm going to try to focus on things that others have not mentioned.

My 550 (560 actually, I think...it came with a few more odds and ends in the box) is actually my second Roomba.The first was the Discovery SE, one of the 400 series.The 400 was pretty good with two exceptions:1) It would not work on rug fringe.It gets hopelessly tangled in less time that it takes to say "Wait!"The second problem with the older 400 series is that the battery dies fairly quickly if you do not use it VERY frequently.I use it once/week and by second battery is showing its age.

In any case, the 500 series is advertised to be able to deal with rug fringe, and indeed it does so reasonably well.It is also supposed to be able to do 4 rooms using these "lighthouses" that have been previously mentioned.To summarize, these are little gadgets that put out an IR (UV?) beam that the robot can see; it generally will not cross the beam, so you can use the beam to mark off rooms.After a certain amount of time, the robot sends out an RF signal to the lighthouse, and the LH lets it through into the next room.Repeat for 4 rooms if desired.Then the robot knows how to find its way back to where it started to plug itself back in to recharge.Cool.

Here are the problems with the lighthouse scheme:First, the beam gets wider very quickly.So there is a fan-shaped area in front of each lighthouse that never gets cleaned.In other words,when moving between the two rooms, the beam gets shut off but when cleaning either side, the robot will not enter the fan shaped area that the beam covers.

The second lighthouse problem is that the robot seems to use time rather than room size or complexity to decide when to move from one room to the other.In other words, for larger or more complex rooms, it simply does not cover the room before moving on to the next.

A non-lighthouse problem that you should know about with the 500 series is that I think they must be lower-slung than the 400 series.My 500 robot is not NEARLY as good is climbing up onto a rung as the 400.The 400 got stuck in fringe, but without fringe, it is nearly flawless.The 500 tends to push the rug around, bunch it up, and even get caught if it bunches up the rug in a corner that it has not way to get out of without getting back over the rug.

You MUST be sure there are no cords on the floor.For example, a floor lamp, a computer power cord, etc.My robot has gotten caught when I forget, and nearly pulled down a few items with dangling cords.

And finally, I have one room with hardwood floor and a rug about 6 or 8 inches smaller than one dimension of the room.So there is a 6+ inch "valley" between the rug and the wall.The 500 series does not clean the 6+ inch valley well at all.It goes along it, but does not pick up dirt well.I think it is probably that the brush is on the rug on one side and on the floor on the other, but is touching nothing in the middle.I end up taking a dry mop and going along the valley and pulling dirt out into an open area where the robot can get it.

Given all that, though, the robot saves a LOT of work.If there is something special happening, I would probably bring out the hand vac and get all the little corners and fans and valleys that the Roomba does not reach, but for every-day/week vacuuming, it is way easier than doing it by hand despite its problems.

Update 3/24/2009:I've had two problems, both fixed/replaced under warranty.First, it refused to dock.It would nose up to the dock and keep pushing and pushing; then finally back up and try again.Repeat forever.Used email support (I think). After doing a bunch of tests that they requested, they sent me a new dock.All ok now.

Second, the robot started spinning in circles.Even if I used the remote to try to make it go straight, it would turn.Sounds like a drive motor on one wheel died or something.In any case, I think I phoned this time. After a bunch of tests, they had me return the robot (minus dust bin and top insert) and they replaced it.

Now it works well, and guess what?The new robot can get up on rugs much better than the old one.I don't know if there was a hardware or software change, or if my old one was defective in some subtle way that I did not know about.I guess I might give this new unit an extra star if I could.

Interestingly, my 400-series also had to be replaced once, but it has worked fine ever since.I hope that will be the case with this one as well.

The suction is so fierce, with a new bag you can lift a small child or pet directly off the floor.Any and all pet hair within a foot of the suction head is sucked directly into it.
The retract/extend feature of the wand is also handy, because the vacuum is easily stored in a coat closet.The wand locks into the bottom of the vacuum when it is standing vertically.
Filtration is incredible.I'll never use a filthy bagless vacuum again.
I'm not a particularly into home cleaning devices, but this vacuum is so bad*ss I just had to review it.

I only gave this rotten little hand vac one star because I thought that without any stars a reader would not realize that some had rated it.It truly deserves minus stars. I've worked and worked with this puny little thing for months now. Today as I was trying to vacuum out my car it occurred to me that since I had wasted my money and that maybe I would feel better if I shared this information on the internet. This hand vac misses about 85% of what ever you are trying to pick up. It misses pieces of sand, grass, leaves, paper and anything else you can name. And, yes, I doclean it out thoroughly after every use--not that it has picked up more than a thimble full. I finally got out my sticky roller and rollered over the floor mats. That took about 3 minutes after using the good-for-nothing Hover hand vac for over 20 minutes.

Now to be fair to the Hoover people I do have a self propelled bagless upright Hoover vacuum and I love it. It has plenty of suction (it will even suck the fringe off your rugs) and power. But their little hand vac is a totally different story. Do not buy it under any circumstances.

There, now I feel better!

(More customer reviews)OK. First let me say that this product is amazing and well worth the money. As an engineer, this thing has amazing obstacle avoidance software, and it navigates rooms extremely well. I put a good deal of research into this vac before I bought it - so let me tell you what you can expect, and more importantly- what not to expect. The majority of reviews that are negative are from people with defective units or people who expected something completly unrealistic. On a side note - all of the units have the same capabilities. So I would recommend that you buy a slightly cheaper unit like this one to test it out. If you really like it, then buy the schduler seperately. The high-end vacuum is no different than the low end one. The only exception is the red - which doesn't have "max" clean mode. This particular package is very good because it has the home base, which is very useful. You can let it run while you are gone, and it will charge on it's own when it's done. I did not find the remote to be useful. If I want the roomba to clean in a specific place, I pick it up and carry it there. You cannot use the remote to drive the roomba onto the charger, and the instructions are pretty clear about that. So, I do think it is a useless component.

My wife and I have about a 1500 square foot house. To really get the most out of the unit, we divide our house into 3 smaller areas, and we move the roomba each day into whatever area we want to clean (one large bedroom, the living room, and two smaller rooms joining a bathroom). We then run it while we are gone during the day in the heavily travelled areas once a day and in the less travelled areas once a week. We thought we'd use it more, but honestly, the floors have been so clean - there is no need to run it in an area more than once a day. I was suprised at how well it will navigate between rooms if you leave the doors open. Anyway, the floors are very clean - much cleaner than they ever were with an upright. The roomba really does a great job on the baseboards and under furniture. It picks up dust and pet hair very well. The suction is NOT as strong as an upright, but the unit will cover most areas several times - and after several times, it will pick up as much or more than most uprights. It has to hit larger pieces of debris head on to be picked up. There are some cases where the roomba may hit a small spot only once or miss a spot completely after a full 1-2 hour cylcle. However, if you run it multiple times in a day in the same room - you will have very clean floors very quickly. It takes the Roomba a few runs to reach an "equilibrium" where it's picking up about the same amount of dirt each run. But expect it to pick up a lot of dust and dirt the first few runs.

Let me tell you what not to expect of the Roomba. If you think you will buy this vacuum, set it in the middle of your house, punch a few buttons, walk away - and your floors will forever be clean - do not buy this vacuum. This vacuum does requre that you empty the bin at least once a day if you use it on carpet. It does requre that you find out what type of items it may get stuck on the first few times you run it. It does reqire that you make sure you don't have cords or tassels in its way. It does requre that you clean the brushes every few uses. The roomba cannot do anything a normal vacuum does not. It cannot clean over tassels, it cannot magically hop over 1/2" thick area rugs, it cannot run over wires and ignore them. If you are willing to do these few things, such as "roomba-proof" the room, and clean the brushes - it is MUCH EASIER than a traditional vacuum. It will keep your floors very clean, and you will be very happy.

Let me tell you a story about why the robot is still a robot and it can't do everything on it's own... My wife and I were watching TV and the roomba was cleaning (it's not really louder than a dust buster). We have a puppy... Well... the puppy pooped on the tile entryway while we were watching. The roomba... ran over the puppy poop and drug it all over the carpeted floor next to the entryway while smearing the poop all over itself (brushes, small places, dust bin). Needless to say - it was not pretty - and we had caught it after about 5 minutes. One and a half hours, and 150 Q-tips later - the roomba was clean, the carpet was clean - and the puppy was outside. Lesson learned - watch what the Roomba may run into. It's not completely fool-proof. It did it's job... and if I had watched the puppy - things would have gone well.

This is a great product if you don't have unrealistic expectations. It's a great product if you don't get a dud. The jetsons are not here yet - but I can honestly say my carpet and hard floors are much cleaner than they have ever been, and the unit is very easy to use. It is well worth the money.

(More customer reviews)This is a good carpet cleaner.I can't fault the machine for the initial problems.When I first received this product, I immediately went to work, or tried to.The solution tank was faulty and all the solution leaked out, creating a mess on the floor.I then went online to [...] to order a new tank only to find that the tank I needed was "out of stock", with no indication whatever when I could expect it to be in stock.I had removed all the furniture from my den and it was sitting in the middle of my living room.My frustration level was very high at this point.I then looked for local dealers and found one less than 5 miles from my house.I called and the gentleman there was very helpful.He not only checked his inventory but actually went to locate the part visually before I went to pick it up.He also told me exactly what I needed to take with me in order to get the tank replaced for free.This was practically an all-day deal but I was able to get another tank.It didn't leak, the machine works well and isn't really all that hard to deal with.Yes, the tanks are smaller than the commercial machines and you have to refill and/or empty them a lot but, overall, it's a good residential machine and handy to have around.One hint:When you go to empty the recovery tank, remove the solution tank first.I found out the hard way.You have to lay the handle of the machine down on the floor, which tilts the solution tank and causes it to leak.Maybe this is a no-brainer for some but the instruction booklet failed to mention it and I just followed the directions.Duh!!!!

(More customer reviews)The Halo vacuum has a very neat concept behind it.The idea of using UV light to kill all bacteria and organisms is a brilliant marketing idea.How well this machine actually destroys those little nasties, I'm not sure of.What I am sure of is the poor quality of this vacuum.

The Halo vacuum comes 100% assembled in the box.The handle is telescoping allowing it fit nicely in the box.Since day one, after telescoping the handle up, I have yet to be able to make the handle go back down.The button that is supposed to control the handle actually broke off and now the handle is stuck in the up posistion.

The vacuum cleaner is very basic, as there are no attachments on board.There's no way to use any hose on this machine, so you are limited to cleaning the floor only.Since there's no hose on the machine, I don't really have a way of testing how much suction the motor creates, but I can tell you vacuuming pet hair is no simple task as it took 2-3 swipes with the machine to completely vacuum the hair off the floor.

After using the machine probably 7-8 times, I bumped the front of the machine into the baseboard (it was rather hard, as I was trying to finish ASAP) and the UV light went out, and now won't come back on.The main feature of the vacuum is now not functional, and it's almost brand new.

I have tried ordering the part (UV lightbulb) and to no surprise, the part has been back ordered for 3 weeks. We have also tried to order more machines, also backordered.When we try to call the company to find out where our order is, there is never any answer.We have no idea when, or if we are going to get this part.Even the bags, which without them the vacuum is useless, are currently on back order.

If the vacuum cleaner had costed $100, I would understand that you'll get what you pay for, but this vacuum retails for $400-$500, and for that price, the vacuum should definitely not have broken so soon.

The company is a brand new company, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt, and hope that they get their act together, but in the meantime I will let anybody who asks me know TO STAY AWAY FROM HALO!

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my wife for her birthday.Stop laughing, she asked for one of these things.I looked at Bissell, Fuller Brush, Oreck/Hoky, Ewbank and some of the battery powered units.My wife specifically did not want to deal with remembering to charge and battery life issues.I found that everything I looked at was using older NiCad technology rather than Li Ion or Polymer Li Ion meaning they would all suffer from memory effect and degraded performance.Scratch those.So, it came down to the 125 year old technology invented by Mr. Bissell circa 1875.Bissell and Fuller have stuck with the tried and true roller with bristles like a hair brush.Hoky, now owned by Oreck has innovated with a roller that uses a series of plastic blades to replace the bristles.It's supposed to allow the unit to deal with wet stuff as well as dry stuff.Also, the rubber squeegee blades allow for easier removal of hair and other long fibers that can get embedded in bristles.

Does it work?Yeah, amazingly well.But let me be perfectly clear.This thing produces zero suction.It is not a vacuum cleaner.It works purely by mechanical action provided by.....you.Some reviews of the Bissell unit appeared to reflect the buyers belief that somehow this sort of device will replace a vacuum with suction and a powered beater bar.It won't!But for a quick cleanup of surface litter after mealtime prep and eating with 2 - 3 kids at the table, it's fantastic.And once again, it's powered by you and it relies on mechanical action.You need to give it a brisk push.More brisk = more results.You can't just slowly move it over the offending material and expect good things to happen.Grab that sucker and get aggressive with those crumbs.

So far, we've used it on hardwood floors and an persian wool carpet in the kitchen.It does well on both.I'm surprised that another reviewer found that it didn't pick up hair.I sprinkled a bunch of Cheerios on the persian rug to test it and ended up with carpet fibers, hair, and a bunch of other stuff I hadn't even seen on the carpet.So why only four stars?The price.I think [...]is a little steepconsidering the basic technology is more than 100 years old and the materials are basically plastic and a little steel.The Bissell can be bought for less than a third of this price.But, for the extra money you get an easy to clean roller that also deals with wet sloppy stuff.

(More customer reviews)I am delighted with my Roomba 540 for what I expected it to do-- it's actually a bit better than expected so far, though I have not yet owned it long enough to rate longevity/reliability.I have two small boys (7 and 5) and two cats (one long-haired) and I decided to use the Roomba upstairs rather than downstairs-- it is easier to control the clutter upstairs in our house, and therefore more practical for our use to use it up there on a routine basis.

Roomba vacuumed under a challenging queen bed, navigating over some cords, between two underbed boxes and six box-spring support pillars, and still getting out to the edge of the baseboard under the head of the bed-- great since I don't exactly move an oak bed around very often.Roomba covered the floorplan of a fairly complicated floor layout completely in the MBR, found the MBath, and cleaned up the tile floor very well, navigated back out (not using the included lighthouse yet) and discovered the hallway and one of the kids rooms as well as the kids' tile bathroom; it did a nice job on all.I did shut off the closet doors before starting Roomba.It navigated itself into and out of some pretty tight corners.

Roomba bumped into a balled up shirt on my son's floor and navigated around it rather than trying to eat it, though I don't recommend that approach routinely.

Roomba did have a couple of difficulties, which I found to be minor, compared to actually vacuuming:
*Now, I have not yet used the included lighthouse to mark off the rooms and help Roomba navigate-- but Roomba has not yet managed to navigate itself back to its base for recharging-- I have to go find it after it's done and take it home.
*On the first pass under that bed (which was in dire need of a good vacuuming) Roomba's brushes had a little more cat hair than it could handle and it spit out little hair balls here and there which I was able to pick up easily and discard-- maybe half a dozen tops.However on the second and third runs, when that floor was much cleaner, this did not happen.
*The directions suggest emptying Roomba's dustbin and cleaning its filter every three cleanings.OK, I've already indicted my dirty carptes here, but I've found it worth emptying/cleaning each use at least at first, but fortunately this is really simple to do-- push a button, pop out the easy to handle bin, dump in the trash, clean the filter (same as a dryer lint filter in your clothes dryer) pop bin back into Roomba with a click.No big deal, no mess, at least IMO.

On the up-side, when cleaning for the first time and encountering a lot of cat hair, Roomba's was stopped, and when I picked it up, a human sounding voice informed me that I needed to clean Roomba's brushes.This was easy to do and Roomba was back on its way.My unit came with spare brushes and a spare filter, suggesting these parts will need periodic replacement.

But if vacuuming takes only pushing a button to start and putting itback with a stop past the trash can when it's done later (or at your convenience) then I'm sold.And it seems to be doing a nice job with good coverage of the floor areas.I would give one to my mother.

(More customer reviews)What really made us zero in on this model was the concise video we saw on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AdZfIKnGwo). We couldn't believe how they did the stairs (we added a turbo brush to do this). And, then, we tried it at home---it worked fantastic.

We know it's still early (we've had this for only 2 days), but it is an excellent fit for us. This vacuum is, we never thought we'd say this, just wonderful. It's fantastic on carpeting, tile, linoleum, and wood floors--we have all four. The premium model comes with a carpet head and a bare floor head plus a crevice tool and upholstery brush. (We'll likely buy a wand and dust tool soon.) When you study the filtration design and implementation compared to others brands it is incredibly clever and highly effective.

One thing we had difficulty finding on-line was how loud vacuums were. If anything we found sites that ranked "noise level" or "quiet" but never actual decibel levels. When doing research we found that normal conversation ranges from 60 to 70 decibels. The Felix manual said that this vacuum registers at 68. We found to our amazement that we could talk over the vacuum---we've never been able to do this with any other vacuum. It is welcomely quiet!

It's incredibly compact, has incredible maneuverability, and is very light. We are (again) simply amazed thus far. It's worth evaluating this to see if this model/design works for you.

(More customer reviews)This is my 6th vacuum in 23 years of marriage.For the price, I expected a little more....It's pretty much like my old Kenmore, lots of plastic.I wish the cord were a bit longer and would stay in the socket.It comes out pretty easily and I have to go back and keep replugging it in.I have cats, and it does a good job with picking up the fur.Both the power head and the hard floor nozzle are too wide for getting behing places my Kenmore, hard floor attachment could easily get behind.I can get under some furniture I couldn't get under with the power head on the Kenny..
The vacuum itself is compact and light weight.It maneuvers throughout the house easily moving from tile, to laminate to plush carpet.
I bought it because I've heard it lives a long time...my other units including the sanitaire, which cost about the same as the Meile, died very young...I've heard the Miele lives sometimes 20 years...which is like my mother's vacuum, which lived about 50 years!
So, if the Miele people are reading...please make the cord a foot or so longer, with a three prong, plug and the hard floor tool a little more narrow.

My entire house is hardwood floors and I've tried several upright vacuums, and they ALL shoot stuff out of the back. The Shark never shoots anything out...and 99.9% of the time it picks everything up: from rice, coffee, dust-bunnies, crumbs, coins, potato chips...anything that other expensive vacuums I've tried can't. It's convenient to use, lightweight, it stays charged (which btw, when calibrating the battery, they suggest you charge/drain the battery twice. I've drained it once so far, and it ran for over 45 minutes). The swivel handle is great, and maneuvers like a steering wheel.
I even use this thing on the back porch to pick up leaves, berries, and stuff I don't feel like getting out the broom & dustpan for.
I don't think this machine is designed for heavy duty work, or not sure how it would perform on deep-pile carpet, but for my hardwood situation it's perfect!
Also, the little wheel for baseboards really works! It throws stuff right in front of the beeterbar to be consumed.

(More customer reviews)Halleluia!When my Bissell Steam Mop finally 'died' and I found out they didn't make them anymore I was devastated.The only place I found to buy them was ebay at a whopping $250!Anyway, I searched online for other models and read all their reviews.None of the reviews for other products sounded any where near the quality and hard work of my old Bissell.I saw this model (The Steamboy) and it looked similar to the Bissell, however - nobody had written a review, so I was a little skeptical.

I'm here to tell ya - this product is as good or, dare I say, even better - than the Bissell for several reasons:1.it is lighter weight (but not flimsy) so my arms don't get tired 2.the head pivots easier and it is triangular in shape so it gets into the nasty corners under my kitchen counters and behind my toilets even better 3.the pads are easier to put on than the Bissell and the draw string to tighten them on is longer and therefore easier to work with and lastly 4. it has a carry handle and doesn't fall over when standing upright as my old Bissell did.Cons are 1. you have to make sure that the tank is all the way in or it is a little drippy 2.the cord could be longer, but I can't remember the Bissell's being any longer than this one.

So, if you want to replace your Bissell or give one as a gift this is definately an affordable option.If you've never used a steam mop, you will be amazed - and disgusted - by how clean your floors get and realize how dirty they REALLY were all those years when you used the ol' mop and bucket.This is faster too and requires no chemicals to clean!

My normal 409 cleaner cleans tile grout much more effectively and quickly than this steamer! It's quite a useless purchase for me. I am back to cleaning the conventional way-Ajax and Easy Off etc..

(More customer reviews)I can't say I differ much from the other review.I just got mine and I too thought I was loving the feeling of NOT ironing.I had had other hand held cheaper steams so I knew it wouldn't equal an iron but I didn't expect to stand in a lake of water and have steam for only 3 minutes.I thought mine was just defective but now that I read the other person's only steamed for a few minutes perhaps this IS the design.ewww

What was more shocking is after adding water time after time after time when I started to disassembled it to return it IT WAS FULL OF MORE THAN ONE CUP OF WATER!

And that means it does not know when it needs water and it leaks.Two issues.

If not for them I tell you the accessories are the thing.The mitt truly protects your hand from high heat.Heck I'd use it with a regular iron.The lint attachment works well.The hose was surprise.IT IS LIKE VELVET.Truly nice to hold.Steam head is nice and large.

But that's allI got to enjoy because by time I covered shoulder to waist on a long coat (front only)I realized I had a floor full of water and I was done!

I'll let you know if an exchange is any better.I'm beginning to think it won't help either.

Can anyone tell me of one that is a lot better than this?

This one has everything you could want -- it cleans GREAT, it is amazingly quiet, the HEPA filtering is top notch, the controls and the tools are convenient, the power cord reaches forever, the materials used in this machine are built to last, and on top of all of that, it looks gorgeous (I know, I know, it's a vacuum!).

My one and only reservation was that it was on the heavy side. This reservation was quickly allayed when I actually used this Miele upright at home (the dealer kindly lend it to me to try at home.) The maneuverability is phenomenal. No more plowing forward and backward to move a couple inches to the left or right. Just twist your wrist and the vacuum swivels and turns on a dime. It's *amazing* how much effort this saves!

I compared this vacuum to the Sebo Automatic X4 and the Sebo Felix. The X4 is the noisiest of the bunch, and it doesn't swivel (which both the Felix and the Miele do), although it is a solidly great machine. The Felix is the lightest, and it swivels, but is the only one that doesn't have automatic height adjustment, a feature that lets you vacuum right over throw rugs without the vacuum eating the rug.
Price-wise, the Felix was about $100 less than the X4 which is about $120 less than the Miele Bolero.

I ended up selecting the Miele because overall it had every useful feature and was the most convenient to use.

I like the size of the Sebo Felix, but it was a little too fussy (too many parts that come on and off) and the hose didn't have an extension, so I couldn't reach the cobwebs up high.

Any one of these three would be great to own. The Miele is just a little ahead in terms of features and convenience. Oh, and about the high price: I am replacing three (crappy, smelly, loud) old vacuums (Hoover, Kenmore, Eureka), and if you add up how much they all cost, I would have been better off getting the "expensive" Miele to start with. I expect it will last a very very long time.
